Meeting My Online Travel Buddy IRL
After months of chatting online and planning this trip together, I finally met my travel buddy face-to-face in the Czech Republic!
We spent our first day exploring the fairytale town of Český Krumlov before diving into Prague for three full days. It was surreal meeting someone on the internet and instantly clicking like we’d been friends forever.
🎫 Transportation: Costs & Essential Tips
Planning the logistics for this trip was part of the fun! Here is a breakdown of what we spent to get around, and the one mistake you definitely want to avoid.

🚌 Which Stop Should You Choose in CK?
FlixBus has two stops in Český Krumlov. Depending on your luggage and what you want to see first, here’s the breakdown:
Best if you have heavy luggage or are staying near the Castle District. It’s a flat, quick walk into the heart of the historic area.
This is where I started! It’s closer to the Svornosti Square. While it involves some uphill/downhill walking with bags, you get to see more of the town's outskirts and river views right away.
My experience: I walked from AN Terminal and found it a great way to soak in the town.
💡 Pro Tip: You board the bus for your return to Prague at the exact same spot where you got off at Špičák. Don’t cross the street!
October 25, 2024: The Fairytale of Český Krumlov
We met for the first time at Prague Central Bus Station Florenc! After a quick freshen-up and storing our luggage (80 Kč), we were ready for the adventure. We departed for CK at 7:00 AM sharp.
We arrived in Český Krumlov and immediately started exploring its gorgeous, winding streets.
Running on empty, we found an authentic café. Since most restaurants don’t open until 11 AM, this spot was a true lifesaver.
SO TASTY! The warm, cinnamon-sugar coating from the Creperie was perfect for the crisp morning air. We both absolutely loved it.
If you are a history lover, this is for you! It presents the town’s detailed history in a truly engaging way.
Wandered the charming streets and picked up some hand cream (135 Kč) for gifts.
After heading back to Prague to collect our bags, we checked into our Airbnb. We grabbed groceries from Billa and cooked dinner together—the perfect end to a long day.
🚶♀️ Transportation Note: We only used a 30-minute PID pass (30 Kč) for the trip to the Airbnb. For the rest of the journey, we stayed on foot—Prague is incredibly walkable!
October 26, 2024: Old Town Exploration
Prague is such a walkable city! It’s actually smaller and more compact than Kraków’s square, which made exploring at our own pace really enjoyable. The October weather was ideally sunny with a gentle breeze—perfect for a full day of wandering.
📍 Old Town, Prague 1
Venue has two branches, and both are almost always busy. We waited outside for about 10 minutes—even at 8 AM, you'll likely find a line!
"The drinks were superb! As a barista myself, I was amazed by the coffee quality and the latte art was on point. Pro tip: The maple syrup is a much better match than regular syrup."
The Dish: We had Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was tender and flavorful, but the mayo-based sauces didn't quite pair well with the waffles. Score: 6.5/10
Wandered through the charming streets of Prague 1 Old Town, soaking up the atmosphere and taking in the historic sights.
Rating: 6/10. The food was nothing fancy. Be prepared: it's Cash Only, and tipping is expected.
Watching the city light up in Prague 1. The night view gives the Old Town a completely different, magical energy.
October 27, 2024: Prague Castle & Sunset Views
🍺 Lunch: Pivnice U Glaubiců (321 Kč)
The place was absolutely buzzing! Located right near Prague Castle, it's the perfect authentic Czech spot to refuel. The flavors are as traditional as it gets.
Student Price Available!
This nearly 100-meter-high tower offers a unique view of Prague. The climb consists of more than 280 steps—287 to be exact! Along the way, you’ll see the massive Cathedral bells up close.
🌅 The sunset view over the red rooftops was incredible.
Absolutely worth every single step!
This is supposed to be a perfect spot for a short, relaxing walk, especially during summer when everything is in bloom. The terraced gardens offer incredible panoramic views over the red rooftops of the city, which are truly breathtaking. We captured the sunset with fewer crowds here. (A reason to come back in summer! 🌿)

October 28, 2024: Goodbye Prague
Bought one last 30-minute PID pass and took the subway back to Prague Central Station. It was time to say goodbye to this beautiful city and the amazing few days spent with my new friend.
✨ Final Thoughts
"Meeting someone online and traveling together was honestly one of the best decisions I made. We clicked instantly—the trip felt like we'd been friends for years."
