Kraków Airport to City Centre: The Complete Guide

Wondering how to get from Kraków Airport to the Old Town? Compare Uber, Bus 300, and the Train in this visual guide.

👋 Arrival: I arrived in Kraków at 11:40 a.m. After collecting my luggage, I started my journey into the city. Kraków Airport (KRK) is small and easy to navigate. Here are the 3 best ways to get to the city centre (20–40 mins).

🚕

Uber / Bolt

Best for Luggage
  • Cost: Check app (Bolt is often cheaper).
  • Pickup: Exit terminal, cross one lane. Look left.
  • Wifi: Use free Airport Wifi to book inside.
💡 Tip: Book before you walk out to the curb.
🚌

Bus 300

Best for Old Town S/W
  • Freq: Every ~15 mins (Peak).
  • Key Stops: Jubilat, Rondo Grunwaldzkie.
  • Ticket: Buy via Jakdojade App.
🌙 Late Night? Bus 300 ends ~22:25. Use Night Bus 902.
🚆

Train (SKA1)

Fastest to Main Station
  • Line: SKA1 (Dir: Wieliczka).
  • Loc: Level 1 (Follow footbridge).
  • Ease: Only 1 train track = Can't get lost!
⚠️ Student ID: 51% off requires Polish ID. ISIC often rejected.

📍 Where do they drop you?

Choosing between Bus and Train depends on where your hotel is:

🚆 Take the Train (SKA1) if:
You are staying near the Main Station (North) or Galeria Krakowska. It's the "Wieliczka" line.
🚌 Take Bus 300 if:
You are staying near Wawel Castle / River. Get off at Jubilat or Rondo Grunwaldzkie (Transport Hub).

📱 Digital Toolkit

  • Jakdojade (App)
Essential for buying tickets & live tracking vehicles.
  • MPK.krakow.pl
Great for deep planning routes (Timetables), but cannot buy tickets.
  • Portal Pasażera
Official Polish Rail timetables. Check "Krakow Lotnisko" to "Krakow Glowny".
✅ Why I love the Train:
The train platform is at the airport (follow the footbridge). Only one train departs from there (SKA1). There are no other lines, so you literally cannot get lost!

Official taxis wait directly outside the arrival hall. Prices are fixed based on zones (km distance), not time. You do not need to negotiate. Non-official taxis are about twice cheaper than offical taxis.

The "Last Mile" & Personal Tips

1. Buying Tickets
For the bus, I highly recommend the Jakdojade App. It's fast, efficient, and I use it regularly to get back to my dorm. For the train, you can use the Koleo App, buy from the conductor, or use the machines at Level 0.

2. Getting Lost at the Train Station
The train drops you at Kraków Główny, which is connected to a huge mall called Galeria Krakowska. To get to the Old Town, you have to walk through the mall. Follow signs for "Stare Miasto" (Old Town). It’s about a 10-minute walk from the platform to the main square.

3. Validation is Key!
If you buy a paper ticket for the bus, validate it in the yellow machine immediately. If you use an app, click "Validate" as soon as the bus starts moving. Ticket inspectors are strict!

"Aside from a metro service, Kraków's airport transport matches other major European cities. It's safe, reliable, and cheap."
